The Bandierai degli Uffizi in Orvieto for the 75th Anniversary of the Historical Parade

Orvieto, May 24, 2025 – On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Historical Parade of Orvieto, the Bandierai degli Uffizi had the honor of being invited to the beautiful Umbrian city to take part in one of the most heartfelt historical reenactment celebrations in central Italy.

In the evocative setting of the historic center, amidst the colors of the flags and the echo of the drums, our group marched to pay tribute to the long tradition of the Orvieto Parade and the extraordinary exhibition of the Holy Corporal on the cathedral’s forecourt. An event that for over seven decades has celebrated civic identity, historical memory, and the deep bond between the city and its ancient institutions.

A Performance in the Heart of History

During the parade and official celebrations, the Bandierai degli Uffizi performed a series of flag throws and choreographed movements inspired by the military origins of our art. With codified and precise gestures, we wished to bring to Orvieto not only the visual spectacle of the flags but also the profound meaning of an ancient ritual, passed down with discipline and pride.

A Bridge Between Cities and Traditions

The meeting between Florence and Orvieto, in the name of their respective historical reenactments, represents a moment of cultural exchange and mutual recognition between communities that safeguard and renew their connection with the past every year. We are grateful to the organizers for the invitation and the warm welcome, which made our participation even more meaningful.

Looking to the Future

Events like this confirm the value of our commitment: to bring the beauty of Italian historical traditions into the present, keeping them alive and shared, in Italy and around the world. Orvieto will remain a memorable milestone on our journey, and we hope it will be just the first of many collaborations with a city so rich in history and spirit.
